Oujda - Canada is the guest of honor at the 15th annual Marrakech Film Festival to be held on December 4-12.
After honoring Japan in 2014, Canadian cinema is to be honored this year for their strong and rich film industry whose cinematography inspires national and international movie lovers.
Though Hollywood has traditionally dominated international cinema, Canadian cinema also has a long history of eye-catching and breathtaking movies, scenarios, and documentaries. Well-known Canadian filmmakers enjoy great praise in the form of awards, recognition, and international box office success; it is they who best represent Canadian Cinema.
For example, Atom Egoyan created great movies such as Exotica (1994) and Felicia’s Journey (1999), which explore the theme of individuals struggling with alienating societies. David Cronenberg, as another filmmaker, produced the Fly (1986), Crash (1996), and eXistenZ (1999) shedding light on present day violence and barbarism.
Canadian cinema runs the gamut, from appearances by artists like Jim Carrey and Ryan Gosling, to James Cameron’s great and inimitable movies such as Titanic, which broke records with 11 Oscars, and Avatar, which is the highest grossing movie in history.
Along with noting all its past achievements, Canadian cinema’s bright future and high potential will be honored by The Marrakech Film Festival.
