New York - According to US film industry website KFTV, the upcoming American motion picture “The Yellow Birds” will soon be filmed in Morocco.

“The Yellow Birds” is an adaptation, by the same name, of the 2012 American novel from US writer, poet, and Iraq war veteran Kevin Powers.

The war drama relates Powers’ real-life experiences as a soldier in Iraq and the struggles he is forced to face after he comes back to his hometown in Virginia.

“The Yellow Birds” illustrates the story of John Bartle, 21, and Daniel Murphy, 18. Two young US soldiers who become friends before their deployment to Iraq and are later confronted with the horrors of war, while fighting to protect each other.

The film will be in the hands of French director Alexandre Moors and will feature English actor Jack Huston (American Hustle), American celebrity Jennifer Aniston, and American actor Alden Ehrenreich, among others.

The world’s film industry seems to increasingly fall in love with Morocco’s unique locations and select this North African country as setting for its foreign pictures.

According to the same source, "Morocco is one of the most popular parts of the world for desert filming locations,” and the new film will “double” the country’s desert for Iraq.

In 2014, forty international productions, the equivalent of $120 million in profits, were shot in Moroccan territory.

Among the recent and most recognized films that chose Morocco as its background are: Mission Impossible – Rogue Nation, Rock the Kasbah, and American Sniper.

“The Yellow Birds” is scheduled for worldwide release in 2016.
