Rabat - Known for its scenic beaches and ideal location on the Mediterranean, Tangier has been named destination of the month by Vogue. The article on the magazine’s website highlights the city’s best attractions, from the eclectic nightlife to mountain retreats. In this historic city, tourists from all over the world will have no problem finding exciting and unique sites to explore.
First, Vogue mentions Plage de Sidi Kacem as the “plage du jour,” conveniently just a few kilometers away from the more crowded and polluted local beach. Here, visitors can recline on the soft sand or grab a bite to eat at one of the many local restaurants lining the shore. For people looking for a more action, the beaches of Tangier are the perfect place to hang ten and catch a wave.

Vieille Montange is another popular destination, offering tourists an escape to lush green gardens, guesthouses with serene privacy and unparalleled views.
During the day, visitors can check out a variety of cafes and restaurants. Vogue points out that unlike Marrakech to the south, Tangier offers delicious and down to earth cuisine for much more reasonable prices. And even shoppers with the most insatiable appetite will find more than enough to satisfy them at places like Bazar Tindouf, which offers beautiful carpets, lanterns, ceramics and more.
While Morocco is not one of the world’s busiest hubs for tourism, a 2014 report by the Authority on World Travel and Tourism shows that its importance to the county’s economy is projected to steadily, if not slowly, rise. According to the report, in 2014, travel and tourism in total made up 17.9 percent (about MAD 160.3 billion) of Morocco’s GDP with a projected 3.5 percent increase for 2015. Travel and tourism also both directly and indirectly made up 16 percent of the country’s total employment, about 1,740,500 jobs, with a projected increase of 2.3 percent for 2015. Out of 184 countries, Morocco ranks 49th in relative importance of travel and tourism’s contribution to the total GDP.
However, regardless of the numbers, it seems Morocco is gaining worldwide recognition for its beautiful and historic cities and diverse attractions.
