Three Moroccans writers, Noureddine Choubed, Malika Najib and Abdelaziz Errachdi were recently announced among the awardees of the Ibn Batouta Prize in Geographic Literature, organized by the Arabic Center for Geographic Literature “Irtyad Al Afaq,” based in London and Dubai.

Noureddine Choubed received the award in the category of “best inquiry on travel manuscripts,” with his own inquiry on “the Hijazi journey” of Abou Abdellah Ben Atyab Echarki El Fassi, one of the earliest Moroccan pilgrimages that took place in the 18 century.

Malika Najib was awarded in the category of “best study,” with her book on the presence of women in the writings of explorers during the 18th and 19th centuries.

In the category of “best modern travel narrative,” Abdelaziz Errachdi will be awarded for his intriguing book, Sinbad du désert: des scènes de Genève, de Paris, de Manama, d’Amman, de Damas, du Caire, de Beyrouth, de Marrakech et d’autres villes.

The three Moroccan awardees will be handed their prizes in a ceremony scheduled for next September, in Dubai.
