Rabat - The 20th Session of Casablanca International Book Fair is honoring the Economic Group of States of West Africa as the Guest of Honor among dozens of participating countries and publishing houses.
Over 70 Lebanese publishing houses are participating in the 20th session of the International Exhibition of Editing and the Book, which officially kicks off Thursday in Casablanca under the High Patronage of King Mohammed VI.
The exhibition, the biggest literary event in Morocco, runs until February 13th with 54 participating countries and 270 exhibitors, as well as a significant number of cultural institutions, associations, centers, and embassies.
In a statement to the Moroccan News Agency MAP, Amal Manssour, the media counselor at the Lebanese Ministry of Culture said that ten of these publishing houses “represent the syndicate publishers in Lebanon.”
The Economic Group of the States of West Africa is the guest of honor at this session. The Economic Group consists of fifteen countries which enjoy vital and excellent ties with the kingdom of Morocco.
As usual, the program of the International Exhibition of Editing and the Book offers a variety of activities, including conferences, meetings with the winners of the local and international prizes of literature, introducing new books, and organizing “literary evenings” that will bridge the distance between the authors and their readers.
In addition to the publishing houses, various cultural centers and academic institutions, including the “Arab Unity Center Studies” and the “Arabic center of political researches” are participating.
